No. 12/13 Union Outlasts Men's Lacrosse, 14-12

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team fell to No. 12/13 nationally ranked Union, 14-12, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the Endicott offense with four goals. 

Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) and Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.) both registered hat tricks, while Jack Fiorillo (Mineola, N.Y) and Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) buried solo tallies.

In goal, Tim Luciano (Westport, Conn.) made a season-high 18 saves as his record goes to 2-1 on the season.

With the score tied 5-5 at the end of the first quarter, the visitors used a 6-1 run in the second frame to take an 11-6 lead going to the break. 

The Gulls never wavered though as they came out of halftime and scored three unanswered, Fernandez (12:11), Fiorillo (7:55), and Tyksinski (7:22), before Union responded with two of its own to jump ahead 13-9 heading to the fourth.   

Endicott went on another 3-0 as Fernandez (11:45), Graap (9:27), and Favreau (5:39) cut the lead to one.

The Chargers extended their lead back to two with just under four minutes to play and sealed the game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Union is 7-1 in the all-time series.
  • Career high in goals for Tyksinski.
  • Third consecutive game with 15 or more saves for Luciano.
  • Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.) led the Gulls with six ground balls as he also went 14-28 at the X.

Endicott (2-1) visits MIT on Wednesday, March 6 at 4 PM. No. 12/13 Union (2-0) travels to Springfield on Saturday, March 2 at 4 PM.
