Three Gulls earn NEILA All-New England honors
BEVERLY, Mass. - Three Endicott College men's lacrosse players were honored on the 2009 Turfer/NEILA All-New England Team as announced by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Tuesday afternoon. Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, MA) was named to the First-Team as a midfielder while Nick Cosco (Londonderry, NH) and Adrien Peacock (Billerica, MA) were named to the Second-Team at attack and defense respectively. All three had previously been named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference All-First Team as well.
O'Reilly played in every game this season while starting 19-of-21 contests for the 2009 ECAC Champions. The senior captain was fifth on the team in points (42) as he netted 30 goals and handed out 12 assists. The speedy midfielder led the team in game-winning goals with four while picking up 33 ground balls and causing 9 turnovers in 2009.
Nick Cosco was the offensive leader for the Gulls as he tied for the team lead in goals with 44 and led the team in assists with 28 helpers. Cosco netted three game-winners in 2009 and leaves the Gulls with the most goals scored since 2006 (145). The senior recorded nine points in the ECAC Championship as he scored a hat-trick and dished out six assists.


Adrien Peacock had a strong season for the Gulls despite battling a knee injury for most of 2009. Peacock was third on the team in ground balls with 54 while scoring one-of-two short-handed goals for the Gulls this season. The senior from Billerica, Mass. was also third on the team in caused turnovers with 21 and helped anchor the 12th-ranked defense in the country with a 6.9 goals against per game average.
Nine programs saw players earn All-New England honors on one of two Division III squads. The first team attackers were D.J. Hessler (Monkton, Md.) from Tufts, Russ Follansbee (Deerfield, Mass.) of Wesleyan and Brody Savoie (Wilbraham, Mass.) of WNEC. Player of the Year Mike Stone (Boston, Mass.) led the midfielders and was joined by Middlebury teammate Skyler Hopkins (Easton, Md.). Rookie of the Year Nick Jez (Somers, Conn.) earned first team honors as well along with his teammate at Western New England Scott Kukis (Sudbury, Mass.). Endicott's Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, MA) and Bowdoin's Cullen Winkler (Milton, Mass.) round out the first team midfielders. Tufts had two more players on the first team as Jordan Yarboro (Herndon, Va.) was named All-England as a long stick midfielder and Matt Harrigan (Damestown, Md.) earned first team honors as a goaltender. The first team defenders were Spike Malangone (Lake Grove, N.Y.) of Wesleyan, Jared Pabis (Wilbraham, Mass.) from WNEC and Boomer Repko (New Cannan, Conn.) from Bowdoin.
The Turfer/NEILA Division III second team attackers consisted of Tufts' Clem McNally (Far Hills, N.J.), Endicott's Nick Cosco (Londonderry, NH) and Springfield's Jake Beebe (Sudbury, Mass.). Wesleyan and Tufts each placed two midfielders on the second team. The Cardinals' John Froats (Yorktown, N.Y.) and Lonny Blumenthal (Ballwin, Mo.) were honored while the Jumbos Mike Droesch (Setauket, N.Y.) and Matt Witko (Chappaqua, N.Y.) were also on the second team. Rounding out the midfield were Springfield's Chris Jez (Somers, Conn.) and Eastern Connecticut's Dolan Simmons (Mystic, Conn.). Eytan Saperstein (Hewlett, N.Y.) from Tufts, Adrien Peacock (Billerica, MA) from Endicott and Steve Lane (Groton, Conn.) from Eastern Connecticut were the second team defenders. Bowdoin's Bryan Holden (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was the second team long-stick midfielder. The second team goaltender was Michael Gerbush (Glen Head, N.Y.) from Williams.
