BEVERLY, Mass. - Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye announced on Monday that Endicott's Joe Gugino (West Hartford, Conn.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Gugino and the 15th-ranked Gulls posted wins over No. 12 Bowdoin College and TCCC opponent Nichols College in a 2-0 week for the Blue and Green.
Joe Gugino got the week started by winning nine face-offs and scooping up two groundballs in a 10-9 win against 12th-ranked Bowdoin College. The senior had an even more impressive follow-up game against Nichols, as Gugino went 16-for-17 at the midfield X with 13 ground balls and two assists in a 22-2 drubbing of the Bison. Endicott currently boasts a 10-2 overall record.
The Gulls get back to action on Tuesday night when Endicott hosts 7th-ranked Tufts University in a critical non-conference game in Beverly, Mass. The contest will be available live online through Endicott's broadband webcasting channel - Endicott All-Access - beginning at 6:55 p.m.
