Teixeira and Sawchuck Receive Conference Honors Again

Teixeira and Sawchuck Receive Conference Honors Again
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the third week in a row, Endicott field hockey goalkeeper Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Week. The conference office announced the weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon, also naming Endicott freshman forward Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) the Rookie of the Week, her second time this year receiving the honor.

The Gulls went 2-0 on the week, beating CCC opponents Western New England 3-0 before finishing their conference schedule with a 3-2 win over Nichols to clinch the \#1 seed in the upcoming CCC Championship tournament.

Teixeira made three saves in each of the games, collecting her fourth shutout of the season against Western New England. She has made 118 saves on the season and posted a goals against average of 1.89 while starting all 18 games for the Gulls.

Sawchuck continued her penchant for scoring key goals for Endicott, a big part of the reason they have surged to the top of the CCC table. Sawchuck scored two goals in Endicott’s victory over the Golden Bears and netted another tally in the victory over Nichols. The freshman now has 14 goals on the year, second on the team, and leads the squad with six game-winning-goals, five of them in conference games.

The Endicott field hockey team (10-8, 9-1 CCC) has clinched the \#1 seed in the CCC tournament. They will host a semifinal game on Thursday at 4:00 pm against Gordon College at North Field.
