Frenette's Week Four Performance Nets NEFC Offensive Player of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott junior quarterback Drew Frenette (New Bedford, Mass.) threw for 308 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions in a 42-27 NEFC win over Curry last Friday night.  For his efforts, the conference named the play-caller this week's Offensive Player of the Week.

This is Frenette's first NEFC weekly honors award in 13 career starts under center for the Blue and Green.

Frenette completed 69.0% (20-of-29) of his passes and used all four of his touchdowns to build a 28-14 over the Colonels in an important win to open the NEFC schedule.  The junior connected with receiver Nate Lewis (Acushnet, Mass.) to  open the scoring as he found Lewis on a 20-yard route late in the first quarter.  Curry would tie the game at seven, but Frenette hooked up with Lewis for a second time with 4:51 remaining in the first half from the Colonels six yard line to put the Gulls ahead 14-7.

A Davas Wright (Fall River, Mass.) interception gave the ball back to Endicott with 1:52 remaining in the first half.  Frenette led the Gulls down the field and with 10 ticks left on the clock, Frenette found senior tight end Greg Dellorco (Frankling, Mass.) from four yards out to make it 21-7 heading into the locker room.

The Colonels opening the third quarter with a long drive to pull within one score, but Endicott wasted no time regaining their two touchdown advantage as Frenette set a career-high with a 75-yard completion to sophomore Jamison Craft (Phillipston, Mass.) who found the end zone on a 3rd-and-5 play.

With the Gulls ahead 28-14, the offense turned to the run game as sophomore Spencer Walsh (Malden, Mass.) piled up 149 yards on the ground and two fourth quarter touchdown runs of 30 and 51 yards to put the game away.

Endicott is now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in NEFC play.  The Gulls continue their league schedule on Saturday, October 5th with a Homecoming game against Maine Maritime.  Kickoff is at 12:00 pm at Endicott Stadium.  That morning, the Endicott community will honor Pego Jean-Paul '07 as the first gridiron star to be inducted into the Endicott Athletics Hall of Fame.
