Endicott equestrians riding on to Zone competition

Endicott equestrians riding on to Zone competition
Endicott College finished another stellar season with an unprecedented 7 riders qualified for the Regional Horse Show.  Five of the seven riders are moving on to the Zone competition.

Lauren Horth nailed down two solid trips in open fences and flat finishing first in both classes securing her Zone spot.  This will advance Horth one horse show away from qualifying for Nationals.  Anna Pavlov came in close second in open fences riding a fabulous trip, which secures her seat at Zones as well.

This is the first time Endicott College has had a Cacchione qualifier along with two open riders, which is a feat unto itself.  Team captains Erin Sullivan and Susie Pelick came in first and second in advanced canter, which pushes them to Zones as well.  Sullivan and Pelick are already going to be traveling to Nationals as captains, but competing for the opportunity to ride as well.

Taylor Scott rode in the extremely competitive walk-trot division and not only qualified for Zones but qualified by winning the class.  Taylor Chisholm and Nicole Barberio both rode at Regionals as well.  Chisholm finished 6th in novice fences and Barberio finished 5th in novice flat, but did not place over fences.

At each regional horse show the top ten open riders compete in what is known as the Cacchione Challenge Cup.  Anna Pavlov won it last year and Lauren Horth won the reserve champion this year.

Coach Steph Andreottola is confident that we will have continued success at Zones Finals hosted by Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA on April 7.

Zones is the final round before the IHSA National event which will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina in May.
