Gulls Rack Up NEIBA Postseason Honors; Harry Oringer '15 Headlines Major Award Winners

BEVERLY, Mass. — Five members of the No. 4/8 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team have earned New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) postseason honors.

Gulls' Associate Head Coach Harry Oringer '15 (Dartmouth, Mass.) highlighted the list of major award winners by receiving the 2023 Kevin Burr Award.

The Kevin Burr Award is presented to an active New England assistant coach who exhibits the integrity and dedication to the game of college baseball that coach Burr demonstrated throughout his career.

Endicott's other major awards/All-Region honors are as follows:

2023 NEIBA Division III Team of the Year
Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) — NEIBA D3 Pitcher of the Year; Region 2 First Team
Bryan Haley (West Hartford, Conn.) — NEIBA D3 Coach of the Year
Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) — NEIBA All-Region 2 First Team
Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) — NEIBA All-Region 2 First Team

HARRY ORINGER '15 | ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH

During his time with the program, Oringer has consistently led the Gulls' offense to top-25 rankings in numerous hitting categories.

Endicott currently sports the following top-25 offensive rankings among its D3 peers: doubles (No. 6, 117), hit by pitch (15th, 91), hits (2nd, 615), home runs (11th, 63), home runs per game (23rd, 1.21), runs (10th, 446), sacrifice flies (4th, 38), slugging percentage (24th, .505).

"Coach O is the offensive coordinator and he makes it all go. I give him complete power to run it. He's been here six to seven years and he's elite at what he does. We couldn't do this without him," stated Haley in reference to Endicott's high-octane offense heading into the College World Series.

As a student-athlete at Endicott, Oringer was a three-time Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference (CCC) honoree.

He also was named a D3Baseball.com Second Team All-American as a junior and received D3Baseball.com Preseason First Team All-America recognition entering his senior year.

At the conclusion of that spring, he was named Endicott's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year to cap a stellar career at the College.

Oringer's impact on the field is certainly important, but the values he instills and the pride he takes in moving the program forward off the field are of equal if not greater value.

"I can't speak enough about our culture. Hats off to Coach Haley and Coach O for that," said Shpur, now a four-time All-American. "When we won the Super Regional, the outfield was littered with former players and that was really cool to see. Without them [and our coaches], we're not here [in the College World Series]."

A preview of the College World Series from a recent article in the Salem News via Matt Williams summed up Oringer's impact, perfectly.

"Much of Endicott's success at the plate comes from associate head coach and 2015 graduate Harry Oringer. He's a guru when it comes to hitting mechanics, hunting pitches, and using technology to analyze both the physical swing and the approach of batting a given pitcher."

The article continued.

"What's more, Oringer has proven adept at relating to college baseball players. It's almost a superpower when it comes to earning trust and effectively communicating his hitting message."
