Gulls Sweep CCC Championship Weekly Awards

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Three members of the No. 4/6 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) was named the CCC Player of the Week.

Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) also received CCC Pitcher of the Week accolades, while Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) was tabbed the CCC Rookie of the Week.

CALEB SHPUR | SR. | OF

Shpur added another CCC Championship title to his resume last week, batting .476/.520/.810 for Endicott throughout the tournament.

In the early rounds, Shpur showed off his hot bat, hitting home runs in each of the first two games.

First against, No. 6 seed Suffolk on Wednesday (May 10), he went 2-for-4 including said home run, while scoring three times and driving in two.

Then in a 3-2 nail-biter on Thursday (May 11) against No. 3 seed Nichols, Shpur went 5-for-5 with a double, a home run, one run scored, and one RBI. He also swiped three bases against the Bison.

However, Shpur's biggest contribution wasn't even a hit. In the deciding game of the CCC Championship round, the Gull veteran sent a sacrifice fly to center field to bring in the only run of the final game and help Endicott raise the trophy with a 1-0 result over No. 2 seed Salve Regina.

This is his third career CCC Player of the Week honor.

GABE VAN EMON | SR. | LHP

Van Emon went 1-0 with a save in Endicott's CCC Championship run.

He got the starting call to open the tournament on Wednesday (May 10) and spun a masterful seven innings, allowing just four hits, two runs (one earned), while striking out eight in the 9-2 decision.

He then slammed the door shut in the deciding game of the CCC Championship round. He tossed the final two innings of the final contest against No. 2 seed Salve Regina, earning the save in a 1-0 game, to clinch the conference crown.

He had a perfect outing setting down the Seahawks in order in both the eighth and ninth. He stuck out three Salve batters in the outing.

This is his third career CCC Pitcher of the Week award.

KYAN BAGSHAW | FR. | LHP

Bagshaw played a pivotal role in Endicott's CCC Tournament Championship run, tossing 3 1/3 perfect innings, striking out three in the process.

All three of his Ks came in his opening outing against No. 6 seed Suffolk on day one of the tournament. He threw two innings in the 9-2 win.

He then pitched a perfect inning against No. 2 Salve Regina on Friday (May 12) as the Gulls went on to win 8-7.

Bagshaw also was the pitcher of record in the deciding game, getting one out in the 1-0 decision as Endicott claimed the conference crown.

This is his first career weekly award.

As a team, the Gulls won a league-high six CCC Rookie of the Week awards this season.
