SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The No. 5/8 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team swept Western New England, 12-7 and 6-4, on Saturday evening at Trelease Park.
GAME ONE: Endicott 12, Western New England 7
WP (6-1): Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.) — 4 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
LP (4-2): Kevin Hummer (Shrewsbury, Mass.) — 3 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
The Gulls scored six runs in the first inning and held on the rest of the way in the back-and-forth contest.
Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.), Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.), and TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) all drove in three runs apiece.
GAME TWO: Endicott 6, Western New England 4
WP (4-1): Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) — 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
LP (3-1): Jared Kuryan (Madison, Conn.) — 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
SV (9): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) — 2 2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K
Trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, the Gulls posted a three-spot on the scoreboard to eventually complete the sweep.
John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) tied up the contest with an RBI double to right center, while Wladkowski plated two more runs with a single to left field.
Endicott also benefited from scoring on a wild pitch in the seventh before all was said and done.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- The Gulls have won 11 in a row.
- Endicott is 19-5 on the road this season.
- Western New England is 9-5-1 at home this spring.
WHAT'S NEXT
No. 5/8 Endicott (35-5, 15-1 CCC) will play the winner of No. 6 Suffolk / No. 7 Gordon on Wednesday, May 10 (time TBD) in the opening round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament. Fifth-seeded Western New England travels to No. 2 Salve Regina next Wednesday.
