No. 5/9 Baseball Bests UMass Dartmouth, 10-4

DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The No. 5/9 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated UMass Dartmouth, 10-4, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

WP (1-1): Ian Parent (Williston, Vt.) — 4 2/3 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
LP (0-1): Adam Horowitz (Seekonk, Mass.) — 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Endicott produced a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.), and the Gulls were never threatened the rest of the way.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) and Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) also drove in two runs apiece to headline the offense.

In relief, Evan Scully (Maynard, Mass.) polished off the last two frames to extend his scoreless streak to 5 2/3 innings to begin his collegiate career.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Shpur tied the program record for steals in a game with five in today's win (Michael DeDonato vs. Wentworth, 5/05/18).
  • He also leads the conference in steals with 33 on the year (entered the week ranked 12th in D3).
  • The Gulls have won four in a row.
  • Endicott is 16-5 on the road this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (28-5) hosts Wentworth this Saturday at 12/3 PM. This weekend's contest will serve as Senior Day for the program. UMass Dartmouth (16-14) visits Plymouth State this Friday at 11 AM/2 PM.
