No. 6/11 Baseball Handles Colby, 5-1

WATERVILLE, Maine — The No. 6/11 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Colby, 5-1, in non-conference action on Sunday evening at Coombs Field.

WP (2-0): Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) — 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 7 K
LP (3-3): Thomas Rioux (Derry, N.H.) — 5 1/3 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

The Gulls produced a five-run sixth inning and never looked back in the contest.

Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) opened up the scoring with an RBI single through the left side before TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) and Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) both notched two-run singles later in the frame to cap the scoring.

Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.) took care of the seventh (1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K), while Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) blanked Colby over the last two frames (0 H, 0 BB, 1 K) for the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott snapped Mules' seven-game winning streak.
  • The Gulls handed Colby its first home loss of the season (9-1).
  • Endicott is 14-5 on the road.
