No. 6/11 Baseball Edges Southern Maine, 7-6

GORHAM, Maine — The No. 6/11 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Southern Maine, 7-6, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Ed Flaherty Field.

WP (2-1): Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) — 3 1/3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
LP (1-2): Matt Burnett (Ellsworth, Maine) — 4 1/3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
SV (8): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) — 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) plated the eventual game-winning run with a two-out RBI single and the bullpen handled the rest to extend the Gulls' winning streak to eight straight.

Thomas Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.) also came up clutch with two outs in the fifth via an RBI base knock to right field to even the score at 5-5.

Endicott held leads of 1-0, 2-0, 3-1, and 5-1 before Southern Maine fought back to take a 6-5 advantage at the end of the fourth.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 12-4 on the road this season.
  • Tarlin notched his third two-inning save of the year.
  • Endicott handed Southern Maine its first home loss of the spring (6-1).

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 6/11 Endicott (24-4) visits Nichols on Saturday, April 22 for a doubleheader (11:30 AM / 2:30 PM). Southern Maine (10-16) hosts UMass Boston this Saturday in a twin bill with game one scheduled for 12 PM.
