BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott baseball student-athletes Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) and TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the league office earlier today.
Schwede was named the CCC Pitcher of the Week, while Liponis garnered CCC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Last week (April 3-9) for the Gulls, Schwede tossed a complete-game victory in their 6-1 win over Curry on Saturday.
In nine innings of work, Schwede allowed just one run on six hits, while fanning nine and walking just one.
The complete game was the second of Schwede's career as he retired the final 10 batters of the contest and finished one shy of his career-best in strikeouts.
This is Schwede's third career CCC Pitcher of the Week award.
Meanwhile, Liponis batted .267 (4-for-15) with five RBI, two runs scored, a double, and a stolen base, helping the Gulls to a 3-1 weekly record.
Liponis hit safely and drove in runs in three of Endicott's four games, including a pair of two-RBI performances in CCC wins over Suffolk and Curry.
This is his second career CCC Rookie of the Week honor.
