No. 7/14 Baseball Outlasts Gordon, 7-4

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 7/14 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Gordon, 7-4, in conference action on Tuesday evening at North Field.

WP (1-0): Will Fox (West Hartford, Conn.) — 1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
LP (0-2): Sam Carlson (Candia, N.H.) — 0 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
SV (6): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) — 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K

Tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Gulls manufactured the game-winning run with some small ball, and tacked on two more later in the frame for good measure, to secure their first conference victory.

Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) led off the inning with a walk before Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) and TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) dropped down two perfectly placed bunts for hits to load the bases with no outs.

A wild pitch allowed pinch-runner Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) to score from third, while Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) wore a pitch later on in the same at-bat to reload the bases for Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.).

Shpur made it 6-4 with a sacrifice fly to right field, while a throwing error on Liponis' tag up from second to third allowed him to touch home plate.

Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) headlined the Gulls' three-run third with a towering two-run shot to left field.

Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) also drove in two runs with a double in the third and a groundout in the first.
