SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) today recognized Endicott freshman pitcher JJ Branch (Milford, Mass.) as Rookie of the Week as Branch made two appearances this week en route to a 1-0 record with a 1.64 ERA over 5 1/3 innings.
Against CCC opponent Eastern Nazarene, Branch recorded his first collegiate win by going five strong innings in which he give up just one earned run on five hits and one walk. He also notched two strikeouts in the winning effort.
Later in the week, Branch was called on quickly to get out of a tight spot against Bates and the freshman responded by coming in and picking up the out.
The Gulls are off today and return to the field Wednesday as they travel to Boston to take on the Beacons of UMass Boston at Campanelli Field in Brockton. Game time is slated to start at 6:15 pm.
