Gulls Shine in 2012 Summer Baseball Leagues

BEVERLY, Mass. – Nearly the entire roster from the 2012 ECAC Champion Endicott baseball team continued to ply their trade in summer baseball leagues across the country and four of them earned All-Star selections in their respective leagues.

Outfielder Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) earned an All-Star selection in the Futures League, playing for his home-town Martha's Vineyard Sharks. Gold played all 53 games, batting .271 with 36 runs and 54 hits. Gold also led the league with 27 stolen bases.

Right handed pitchers Brendan Pittsley (Plympton, Mass.) and Tyler Hitchcock (Abington, Mass.) faced off against each other in the Cranberry League, Pittsley for the Middleboro Bolts, who lost in the league championship series and Hitchcock for the Canton A's. Both players started eight games and each was nominated for pitcher of the year in addition to their All-Star nods. Pittsley was fifth in the league with 4 wins, (4-2 record) and third in the league with 44 strikeouts, while posting a 1.33 ERA and allowing just 29 hits in 42 innings of work. Hitchcock tossed a league-high 55 innings and was fifth in the league with a 1.02 ERA and eighth in strikeouts, with 33.

Outfielder Ralph Fidaleo (Fairfield, Conn.) earned an All-Star spot in the Connecticut Senior City League, playing in his home town of Fairfield.
While right handed pitcher Connor McLaughlin (Clinton, Mass.) wasn't selected as an All Star in the Central New England Baseball Association, he did help his hometown team, the Clinton 76ers, capture the league title by pitching them to a 2-0 win over six innings in the championship game. McLaughlin ended the season fourth in the league in wins with a 4-2 mark and with a 1.70 ERA, 32 strikeouts and 28 hits allowed in 37 innings pitched.

All six of these players will be back with the Gulls this coming spring as they begin play on the newly renovated North Field.
