Endicott Eases By UNE to Remain Perfect in Conference

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Endicott women's volleyball team swept the University of New England 3-0 on the road Wednesday night to improve to 19-7 overall. Endicott won by a 25-19 first set score before dominating the second, winning 25-8. The Gulls then finished out the sweep with a 25-16 score in the third. With the win, the Gulls also improved to 7-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, locking up the top seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament.

For the match, Endicott held advantages in every statistical category, including kills (36-21), hitting percentage (.231-.008), assists (35-21), aces (11-1), digs (62-49), blocks (8-4) and points (55-26). 

Leading the charge was reigning CCC Player of the Week Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) who finished the match with 10 kills and just one hitting error on 28 attempts as the senior hit .321 for the match. The outside also added eight digs, and ace and one block to her performance. Fellow outside Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished with nine kills and 10 digs of her own while freshman Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) finished with six kills on nine swings to hit a match-high .556. 

Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) dished out a match-best 26 assists on the night while Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) led all players with seven total blocks (2S-5A). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • With the win, Endicott improved to 25-3 all-time against UNE as the Gulls have now won nine straight, and 25 of the last 26 matchups dating back to 1999.
  • Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) led all players with 18 digs in the match, which helped her eclipse the 500 dig total for the season, as she now has 511, a new career-high.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (19-7, 7-0 CCC) will close out the regular season this weekend when the Gulls play host to UMass Boston on Friday at 6:00 PM, and CCC foe Western New England on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Nor'Easters (15-5, 4-3 CCC) wrap up the regular season with a home match against Roger Williams on Saturday.
