Why Endicott? Why Division III?

Mackenzie chose Endicott for both the strong volleyball and athletic training programs. The Athletic Training program offered a great clinical program that allowed her to attain lots of hands-on experience throughout her academic career.

Professional Aspirations

Will intern this fall at Boston College with the football, men's ice hockey and men's basketball teams... Completed an internship at Drumhill Physical Therapy where she prepped and performed basic treatments on patients while observing the diagnosis and treatment progression developed by the therapists... Will complete a clinical internship with the Endicott Athletic Training department where she will be able to observe and work with the staff and Endicott athletes... On her internship at Drumhill - "My internship at Drumhill Physical Therapy helped me to realize that my interests are directed more towards the athletic training and orthopedic side of things. I learned a lot from my internship and my internship advisor was extremely helpful in talking to me about the different options a degree in sports medicine provides. I discovered that I really enjoyed the patient/therapist relationship but, I found that I was most interested in the athlete clients and did not like the small office setting. After discussing with my internship advisor I was able to get in contact with an orthopedic surgeon connected with the facility about a future internship." Also interned at Optimum Sports and Physical Therapy where she shadowed a therapist and aided with rehabilitation programs and exercises... On her internship at Optimum - "My physical therapy internship helped me realize that I enjoy the surgical side of acute injury management more than I enjoyed rehabilitation of chronic injuries." Aspires to work as a physician assistant in an orthopedic and sports medicine unit...

Clubs and Organizations

Member of the Athletic Training Club and Endicott Scholars program at Endicott.

Community Service

She has volunteered Habitat for Humanity, a home build in Beverly, and with Beyond TOPS Soccer as a special needs soccer coach 2014-15. She was a volunteer organizer for Project Home Again in 2016. She served as a tutor with the Lawrence Boys and Girls club in 2014-15.

Mackenzie on her experience with TOPS Soccer: "The Beyond TOPS soccer program was particularly important to me. It connected my passion for building relationships with special needs children and coaching athletics. My family has personal connections with autism and cerebral palsy so getting to work hands-on in making a difference in these kids lives was truly inspiring."
