BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's soccer team defeated the University of Southern Maine, 3-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Hempstead Stadium.
Olivia Pardo (Latham, N.Y.) and Sofia Agudelo (Avon, Conn.) headlined the Gulls' efforts with tallies at 5:42 and 21:27, respectively.
Endicott also benefited from an own goal just 3:30 into the contest, and fed off that early momentum the rest of the way.
Pardo capitalized first when she fended off pressure near the penalty area and snuck a left-footed bounce shot into the lower left corner of the net for her second of the year.
Alyssa McColl (Stoughton, Mass.) initiated the scoring chance with a dangerous cross from the left flank, collecting her first assist of the season.
Agudelo followed on the scoresheet 15:45 later with a fantastic individual effort to bury her first career goal.
Near the top left corner of the box, Agudelo won a bounding ball between two defenders, turned towards goal, and fired a shot under the crossbar to make it a 3-0 contest.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Cosgrove (Newton, Mass.) and the rest of the Gulls' defense took care of things from there, holding Southern Maine to six shots total (1 goal allowed, 1 save) to improve their home record to 4-2-0 this season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today's contest was the first-ever meeting between the programs.
- Cosgrove pushed her record to 4-4-1 on the year.
