SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team fell to Springfield College 1-0 in a defensive bout on Saturday afternoon to fall to 2-1 on the season.
The Pride scored the lone tally of the match by scoring in the 39th minute. The 1-0 edge would prove to be enough as the two defenses were able to shut down all other opportunities. Springfield held Endicott to 11 total shots and only three shots on goal. The Gulls countered by holding the Pride to 15 total shots, eight of which were on goal.
The Endicott offense nearly doubled its shot totals from the first half to the second half by going from four to seven, but it wasn't enough as the match would end 1-0 in favor of the hosts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott keeper Kayla Wentworth (Taunton, Mass.) made seven saves on the eight shots she faced, a season-high for saves.
- Endicott is now 1-3-1 all-time against Springfield.
- Freshman Lindsey Papa (Tolland, Conn.) led Endicott with three shots total, two of which were on goal.
