NCAA TOURNAMENT: Women's Lacrosse Falls To No. 4 Colby, 17-1
WATERVILLE, Maine. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 Colby, 17-1 in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Bill Alfond Field.
WATERVILLE, Maine. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 Colby, 17-1 in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Bill Alfond Field.
Jaira Paine (Granby, Conn.) scored the Gulls lone goal in the contest with Grace McAfee (Marmora, N.J.) getting the assist.
Payton Quirk (Nahant, Mass.) finished the contest with 11 saves. Olivia Francis (Simsbury, Conn.) led Endicott with two caused turnovers.
After solid defense by the Gulls early in the contest, Paine scored the opening goal to put Endicott up 1-0 just over three minutes into the game. The Blue and Green held the lead for the next six minutes in the first quarter before the Mules found the back of the net to tie it up. The hosts then took the lead with two minutes to go in the quarter giving them a 2-1 advanatge heading to the second quarter.
From there, Colby took control the rest of the way, scoring 15 consecutive goals to secure the home win and advance in the NCAA Tournament.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls are now 0-11 all-time against Colby (second meeting this season.)
- Fourth game this season with 10 or more saves for Quirk.
- Paine finished the season with a goal in eight of the final nine games.
- Season-high caused turnovers for Francis.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott finishes the season with a final record of 16-5. No. 4 Colby advances to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament and will square off with Stevens on Saturday, May 17.
