Caroline Hughes, Vendela Jonsson Earn CHC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's ice hockey sophomores Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) and Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) have both claimed weekly awards from the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC), as announced by the league office earlier today. Hughes was named the CHC Player of the Week, while Jonsson was tabbed as the CHC Goaltender of the Week.

In a pair games played against Stevenson University last weekend, Hughes compiled two goals and two assists for four points in the Gulls' two-game sweep of Stevenson. In each game, Hughes buried one goal and dished out one assist versus the Mustangs to keep Endicott unbeaten this season (7-0-0 overall).

Jonsson also played a pivotal role in the two-game sweep against the Mustangs, as the sophomore netminder recorded 56 saves, a .966 save percentage, and 1.00 goals against average. In Friday's game, which marked the first meeting between the two programs since last season's CHC championship contest, Jonsson posted a 32-save shutout against the Mustangs. Jonsson's career-high for saves in a shutout is 34, while Friday's performance ranks second all-time in her career.

Endicott (7-0-0, 6-0-0 CHC) returns to action on Saturday, December 3 when the Gulls host St. Michael's College at Raymond J. Bourque Arena at 5 p.m.
