Head Coach- Brittany Hutchinson (2011-present):

Brittany Hutchinson has an extensive background of basketball experience that has helped to shape her coaching philosophy. In her time as an assistant, she worked under three different coaches with a variety of approaches and she has pulled from their various styles and backgrounds, from the X’s and O’s of the game to their ideas on work ethic and their relationship with their players.

"I keep my door open," says Hutchinson. "I believe in teaching my players to be better, professional communicators; with themselves, with each other and with professors and administrators. Whether it’s their classes or their roommates or their role on the team, I want them to know that my staff and I are their allies. We are on the same team and working towards the same goals; so let’s work at them together and to the best of our abilities.”

Practices under Coach Hutchinson are a combination of teaching and motivation for her players. She educates them not only about the game of basketball but about how to understand their bodies and minds and how ideas such as sleep, water and nutrition make huge differences in performance and ability. She also believes in old-fashioned hard work, both in and out of season, and stresses strength and conditioning all-year round.

“We want to be faster, quicker, and in better shape than our opponents,” says Hutchinson, whose teams like to run a fast break and transition game and control the tempo and whose players have really jumped on board with that philosophy. “Part of what we want to do is outwork our opponents in the offseason so we can showcase that work in season.”

As a team, chemistry is important to Hutchinson, who believes that success on the court is directly tied to how much the players invest in each other. She likes to encourage team bonding while reaching out to the community, getting the group active in events such as the Jimmy Fund Walk and the Boys and Girls Club. She also relies on her team captains and leaders to remember what it was like to be a freshman. The team veterans then take the lead and help first years get acclimated in the fall.

Student-athletes of Coach Hutchinson are exactly that – students first, and she insists that her players arrive at class early, sit up front and are actively engaged. Hutchinson has regular meetings with all players to discuss their academic progress and she holds them to high standards in the classroom. As she continues to strive for more for the program, her players rise up and accept the challenge.

Assistant Coach- Julia Duggan (2019-present):

Duggan comes to Endicott after playing professionally overseas both in France (2018-19, CJS Geispolsheim) and Germany (2017-18, TG Neuss). She also served as head coach for the TG Neuss U18 team where she helped develop individual player skills through practice sessions focused on fundamentals while maintaining an emphasis on game situations and encouraging a team-first mentality.

Meanwhile, after her most recent season wrapped up with CJS Geispolsheim, Duggan served as a coach for the Books and Basketball Academy in Burlington, New Jersey where she developed and instructed practice session plans, contributed during game situations, and assisted with the academy's social media efforts. Along with those duties, Duggan has worked with Nike Basketball Camps in New Jersey for the past three years instructing shooting and skills camps for boys and girls aged 8-15.

Prior to her professional playing days and the Books and Basketball Academy, Duggan produced a standout four-year career at NCAA Division I Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. While at Rider, Duggan played in a program-best 124 games scoring 1,003 points (22nd all-time) and hauling in 834 rebounds (5th all-time) over the course of her career.

Duggan also was named to the All-MAAC Third Team and to the MAAC All-Championship Team in 2016-17, the All-MET Women's Division I Second Team, and to the All-MAAC Rookie Team in 2013-14.

After graduating from Rider with a bachelor's degree in communication studies in 2017, Duggan served as an intern in the athletics department tracking and reporting statistics for several teams, assisting in the creation of highlight tapes for student-athletes and created social media content for several programs and platforms before playing overseas.
