SALEM, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team fell to Castleton University, 55-51, on Saturday afternoon at the Salem State Holiday Basketball Classic.
The Spartans took an early 6-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first frame but the Gulls came back to take a 9-7 advantage by the end of the quarter.
Both teams continued to battle throughout the second quarter, however, Endicott went into halftime with a 26-22 lead.
The third and fourth quarters saw multiple ties and lead changes but during the final three and a half minutes of play, Castleton went on a 7-3 run to secure the 55-51 victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) led the Gulls in points with 14 total. She also recorded seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
- Catie Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) added a team-high nine rebounds as well as nine points.
- Leading the team in blocks was Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) with four.
- Castleton held a slight 45-43 rebound advantage.
- Brooke Raiche (Ira, Vt.) led all scorers with 16 points.
- Katlyn Toomey (North Adams, Mass.) pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds for the Spartans.

Endicott (5-5) faces Eastern Connecticut at 12 PM on Sunday, December 30 at the Salem State Holiday Basketball Classic. Castleton (8-3) plays Salem State on Sunday, December 30 at 2 PM.
