BEVERLY, Mass. – On Saturday, November 1st the Endicott softball team welcomed 7-year-old Riley Fessenden of Beverly, Massachusetts, to be a member of their 2015 roster. Head coach Mark Veilleux and the team officially signed Riley to their squad in front of family and friends.
The official Draft Day started with the entire softball team sitting in the audience as Riley, surrounded by her family, sat front and center. Veilleux started off by announcing how excited he and his program are to have Riley join the team. Following Veilleux, senior pitcher Meg Donegan (Atkinson, N.H.) addressed the room on how Riley will be an integral member of the roster and how the team is honored to have her stand with them in the dugout this coming spring.
After Riley signed her official letter of intent, the audience was able to ask Riley questions about her interests, what excites her about the upcoming season, and how she plans to celebrate big Endicott hits and victories this spring. With the help of her big sister and best friend, Meghan, Riley addressed the room on how she would love to play first base, how she expects the 2015 softball team to win, her love of Taylor Swift's hit single "Shake It Off" and her dog Coco, commonly known in the Fessenden household as "Coconuts."
As an official member of the Endicott softball team, Riley will share a season of laughter and support while creating invaluable bonds with the players and coaching staff. Along with Donegan, juniors Jamie Corda (Higganum, Conn.), Sam DiBella (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore's Chrissy Gikas (Danvers, Mass.) and Ilyza Holman (Ashland, Mass.) all contributed to making Draft Day the best experience possible for Riley.
