Men’s Cross Country Finishes 13th At James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott men's cross country team posted a 13th place finish out of 37 teams at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park. 

Trinity edged Williams, 74-77, to take top honors at the meet, while Norwich placed third (112), Amherst came in fourth (121), and host Westfield State checked in at fifth overall (150). Meanwhile, Endicott scored 373 points to rank ahead of conference foes Nichols (537, 19th), Gordon (632, 23rd), and Western New England (769, 30th). 

Individually, Zach Marshall (Hinesburg, Vt.) finished 25th overall with a time of 27:12.30 on the 8-kilometer course. Marshall was followed by Patrick Finocchiaro (Salem, N.H.), Will Connelly (Barrington, R.I.), Adam Germaine (Guilford, Conn.), and Brian King (Stow, Mass.). The quartet ranked 39th (27:55.72), 69th (28:38.52), 109th (29:28.73), and 139th (30:12.28), respectively.

"The men had the experience of a regional-like race. It was a big field and the first mile was very fast," said Endicott men's cross country head coach Spencer Lange. "They had to make the proper adjustments through mile two and three to ensure they still ran strong races. We're still fine-tuning a few piece but are excited to see things come together over the coming weeks." 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Marshall broke his previous personal best time at Stanley Park by a little under two seconds today (27:14.00 | 2015 season).
  • Last year, the Gulls ranked 19th out of 41 teams at the James Earley Invitational.
