Men’s Volleyball Sweeps AIC In Season Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team defeated American International College (AIC), 3-0, by scores of 25-11, 25-23, and 25-16 on Tuesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Nine student-athletes recorded kills in the win, highlighted by Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) who notched a match-high eight putaways on 11 swings (.636).

Ian Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.) also added six kills on nine swings (.667), while Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.) buried five swings to round out the list of individual highlights.

Tonight's match only featured 12 ties and three lead changes, with 10 and two of those all coming in the second set.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • AIC played its first match in program history tonight (sport added on 1/19/2021).
  • The Yellow Jackets are members of National Collegiate (NC) Men's Volleyball, which features NCAA Division I and II programs.
  • Eight of Robert's 14 receptions led to kills (.571).
  • The Gulls are 3-2 in their last five season openers.
  • Endicott is receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Top-15 poll.

Endicott (1-0) travels to AIC (0-1) on Saturday, January 22 at 1 PM.
