Josh Anderson Named Men's and Women's Volleyball Head Coach

NEW LONDON, N.H. – July 10, 2017 - Colby-Sawyer Co-Athletic Director George Martin has announced the hiring of Josh Anderson as the head coach of the men's and women's volleyball programs.

Anderson becomes the 11th coach in the history of the women's program and the first men's volleyball head coach as the team transitions to varsity status in the fall of 2018.

"I am very excited to be joining the Colby-Sawyer family," said Anderson. "I look forward to continue building the ongoing success of the women's program. The addition of a men's volleyball team will help provide more high school athletes the ability to continue playing at the next level. These future student-athletes will build the foundation of our program, while ultimately earning their degree at Colby-Sawyer.  I am thankful for this opportunity and am eager for the start of camp next month. Go Chargers!"

"I am pleased to welcome Josh Anderson as the next women's volleyball head coach and first men's volleyball head coach," said Martin. "His collegiate coaching experience, as well as his playing experience, made him an ideal fit for our position. Josh has worked with high level collegiate, high school, and club levels on the women's side and helped build and assist in coaching a start-up men's program at the collegiate level. Josh's strong background in coaching volleyball, his passion for the sport, and his desire to mentor and lead young men and women will be a great addition to the Colby-Sawyer Athletic Department."

Anderson joins Colby-Sawyer from San Gabriel High School in San Gabriel, California where he was the varsity volleyball coach for the boys and girls programs. He also was the San Gabriel Elite head coach for the boys 18s team and assistant for the girls 13 elite team.

Anderson earned a Master's Degree from Briar Cliff University in 2016 and a Bachelor's Degree from Endicott in 2014.

At Briar Cliff, Anderson was an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams. He helped guide the women to two consecutive NAIA national championship appearances, while the men's squad began receiving top-10 votes in his second year with the team.

While at Endicott, Anderson was a 4-year starter on the volleyball team. Playing the right side, Anderson led the team in kills, kills per set and was second in blocks as a junior. He helped lead Endicott to its first ever NCAA postseason victory with a 3-0 sweep over #6 MIT. The team won the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) in 2013 and 2014. He was a two-time NECC All-Tournament honoree and was named All-NECC honorable mention in 2014.

Anderson was inducted into the La Salle High School (Pasadena, Calif.) Hall of Fame in 2010 for volleyball.
