Gulls fall to Rivier in top-15 matchup

NASHUA, N.H. – The No. 9 ranked Endicott College men’s volleyball team fell to No. 11 ranked Rivier College, 3-1, on Thursday night in non-division action in Nashua, N.H. The Gulls fall to 23-7 overall this season while Rivier improves to 26-8 on the year.

Rivier proved to be too much for the Gulls as the Raiders boasted a .385 hitting percentage and had 14.5 blocks to go along with 44 digs. RIV won the first two sets of the night, not allowing the Gulls to reach 20 points in either game. Endicott was able to take set three, despite giving up a 24-16 lead, in extra points, 33-31. Rivier bounced back in set four however holding the Gulls under 20 points again for the 3-1 win.

The Gulls were led by 13 kills and six digs from \#A.J. Witkofsky\# (Scotia, N.Y.) and 35 assists from \#Ben Foster\# (Penfield, N.Y.). \#John Emery\# (Westford, Mass.) and \#Zeke Kubisch\# (Bethlehem, N.Y.) added eight and nine kills apiece, respectively. \#David Lowe\# (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) added eight digs in the setback.

Seniors Zach Hansen, Matt Ferreira, and Kyle O'Neill led the way for Rivier. Hansen was the catalyst registering a double-double with 53 assists and a season high 16 digs while putting back 6 blocks. Matt Ferreira was huge at the net with 13 kills and a .429 hitting percentage to go with 4 blocks while Kyle O'Neill showed good ball control on receive and scooped up 6 digs.

The Blue and Green return home for a four-game home stand before heading into the NECVA postseason. The Gulls host Wentworth on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
