Gulls rebound past Lasers, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College rebounded from an opening set loss to go on and win its third-straight match, 3-1, over visiting Lasell College in men’s volleyball action on Saturday night in Beverly, Mass. Following an 18-30 loss in game one, Endicott rattled off three straight wins with scores of 30-22, 30-21, 30-22 to improve to 9-4 overall this season.

In game one, six different Lasell players registered at least two kills led by Spencer Parker (Newington, Conn.) who notched four kills in the opening set. Lasell only trailed 3-2 in the game before using a 13-5 run to grab the lead at 15-8. Endicott would never recover as Will Leclerc (Fairfield, Conn.) ended game one with back-to-back service aces for the visitors.

Game two would be a much different story as Endicott never trailed in the game. Endicott held a 12-9 lead before the Lasers came back to tie it at 13-all on a \#Jeremy Siden\# (Natick, Mass.) service error. \#A.J. Witkofsky\# (Scotia, N.Y.) would help take control of the game as he gave Endicott a 15-13 lead on a pass from \#Ben Foster\# (Penfield, N.Y.) before grabbing a service ace on the very next play. The Blue and Green would go on to win the set, 30-22, as Witkofsky would notch five kills in the game while \#John Emery\# (Westford, Mass.) and \#Jordan Durant\# (Honolulu, Hawaii) each added four kills in the win.

Witkofsky and Emery would lead Endicott to a win in game three, 30-21, as the senior duo notched six kills and five kills each, respectively. Foster would add 13 assists in the game while \#David Olson\# (Chelmsford, Mass.) added four digs. Lasell’s Spencer Parker had a huge third game with seven kills and six digs in the frame.

In the final game, Endicott raced out to an early 12-3 lead as the Lasers committed seven attack errors in the opening minutes. The Gulls would stretch their lead to as many as 11 before closing out the match with a 30-22 win over the Lasers.

The Blue and Green were led by 14 kills apiece from \#John Emery\# and \#A.J. Witkofsky\#. \#Jordan Durant\# and \#James Sliva\# (Monroe, Conn.) each added eight kills while \#Ben Foster\# handed out 48 assists. \#Andrew Slocum\# (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) helped lead the defense with his team-high 10 digs.

Lasell (8-4) was led by a match-high 19 kills from Spencer Parker who also added nine digs. Will Leclerc and Harry Strobel (Westport, Conn.) each had nine kills apiece while Brendan McGourn (Southington, Conn.) had a game high 49 assists. Max Vaughn (Wethersfield, Conn.) chipped in with a match-high 12 digs in the setback.

Endicott returns to action on Tuesday night in a crucial NECVA New England Division matchup with Newbury College at 7:00 p.m. in Beverly, Mass. Lasell plays again Monday night as the Lasers travel to Mount Ida for a NECVA GNAC showdown at 7:00 p.m.
