Endicott Shuts Out Salve Regina, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team topped Salve Regina, 9-0, on Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the South Campus Tennis Courts.

The Gulls came out of doubles action with a 3-0 sweep behind wins at the No. 3, No. 1, and No. 2 flights, in respective order. Collin Dinardo (Westport, Mass.) Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) got Endicott started with an 8-2 triumph, while Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) earned the next win, 8-4, to make it 2-0. Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) Cooper Walters (Madeira Beach, Fla.) then finished off the sweep moments later with their 8-4 victory at the No. 2 spot.

Meanwhile, singles action saw Dinardo and Toler post wins at the No. 6 (6-0, 6-2) and No. 5 (6-1, 6-2) positions, respectively, to clinch the match. 

Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) also registered a dominant victory at the No. 2 flight (6-0, 6-1), while Rinkert, McCleary, and Walters notched triumphs at the No. 1 (6-0, 6-1), No. 4 (7-5, 6-0), and No. 3 (6-2, 7-5) spots. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 3-1 in CCC play.
  • In the previous five matches against the Seahawks, the Gulls have won by a 9-0 score.

"Mentally we stayed focused throughout the match," said Endicott men's tennis coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We are carrying ourselves well in between points, and it is starting to pay dividends."

Endicott (7-8) is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Holy Cross on Thursday, April 11 at 3:30 PM. Salve Regina (0-8) travels to UMass Dartmouth tomorrow, Thursday, April 11 at 3:30 PM.
