Gulls Fall Short Against Amherst College Ranked #15 in Division III, 12-8

The Gulls fell short against the number 15th team in the nation, Amherst College at Endicott Stadium. The Lord Jeff's of Amherst took a quick 4-0 lead after the first quarter of play. The Gulls made a few adjustments and out scored the Lord Jeff's 4-2 in the second quarter, making the halftime score 6-4 Amherst. The first half scoring for Endicott was led by Corey Fox (Sr, Wymouth, MA), Sam Chidester (Jr, Eliot, ME) and Burt Fahy (Jr, Needham, MA) scoring twice to close out the first half of play at 6-4 Amherst. The opening of the third period was a battle with goals being scored by Paul Lord (Sr, Derry, NH), Kevin Lally (So, Derry, NH) adding a goal and an assist and again Fox would find the back of the net rounding out the third quarter of action at 9-7 Amherst. In the final fifteen minutes of action at Endicott Stadium the defense would pressure Amherst to the limits, while Fahy scored the final goal of the game for the Gulls. The Gull defense was once again led by goalie Matt Bagshaw (Gr, Framingham, MA) who made 22 spectacular saves. Defensemen Patrick Gaffney (Fr, Worcester, MA) and Mike Clifford (Jr, Wilbraham, MA) combined for 16 ground balls. The Gulls are Currently 5-5 overall and 4-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference while being ranked number 15 in New England. The Gulls will face off against Connecticut College on April 12th at 4:00pm in New London Connecticut.
