Title: Assistant Coach

John Carricato '19 enters his third year as an assistant coach with the men's ice hockey program in 2023-24.

Carricato returns to The Nest after coaching with the PAL Junior Islanders for the last two years (2019-21).

In 2020-21, Carricato served as the PAL Junior Islanders head coach. Carricato was responsible for recruiting players and team staff, preparing and coaching practices, developing and implementing an off-ice training program, budget and team travel, equipment inventory, and film breakdown and analysis. The year prior, Carricato served the team as an assistant coach performing similar duties.

Aside from his coaching responsibilities with the PAL Junior Islanders, Carricato was a strength coach at Energy Fitness from 2019-21, building off his bachelor of science in athletic training and his National Strength Coaches Association (NSAC) certification from Endicott, both of which he obtained in 2019. During his time at Energy Fitness, Carricato instructed individual and group training sessions, developed and facilitated various strength programs, and much more.

As a student-athlete at Endicott, Carricato played in 104 career games and compiled 39 points (14g, 25a, 39p) as a two-way forward and face-off specialist. Carricato still ranks third all-time in blocked shots (93) and fourth all-time in games played in program history.

Carricato's play and leadership guided Endicott to a 74-28-9 overall record (.707), a 47-19-3 (.703) conference mark, the first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship (2016-17), one NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals appearance (best in program history), four playoff appearances, and two regular season championships.

The Gulls never lost more than nine regular season games during that four-year stretch and won 15 or more games in all four seasons (program record 24-4-2 in 2016-17).

Additionally, Carricato was only one of two student-athletes to be named a captain of the program three times at the time of his graduation.
