No. 12/13 Men’s Ice Hockey Routs Salve Regina, 9-1

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – The No. 12/13 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team routed Salve Regina University, 9-1, in conference action on Saturday night at the Portsmouth Abbey Ice Rink.

Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) notched the first-ever hat-trick in program history, while Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta) scored twice to highlight the offense. Jack Musil (Hull, England), Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.), Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.), and Ryan Dougherty (Sterling Heights, Mich.) all found the back of the net as well in the lopsided victory.

The nine-goal effort by the Gulls marks the second-most single-game goal total in program history. Endicott's 11-goal triumph against Curry College on December 1, 2016 stands as the current single-game program record.

Endicott goaltender Kevin Aldridge (Birmingham, Mich.) compiled 25 saves in the win, while Salve Regina netminder Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) had 27 saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Kalinowski also had two assists in the contest to compile five points total on the night.
  • Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) dished out a single-game program record five assists. 
  • Kalinowski and Besinger's five-point nights also established a new single-game program record. 
  • Endicott is 4-1-0 in its last five games.

FOR THE FOES

  • Mason Brinich (Jupiter, Fla.) put the Seahawks on the scoreboard first with a tally at 16:10 of the first period, before Endicott responded with two goals before the end of the period including Olsson's power play tally at 19:59.
  • The Seahawks won a game-high 43 faceoffs.

Endicott (14-3-2, 8-3-1 CCC) hosts Johnson & Wales University on Thursday, February 2 at 7 PM. Salve Regina (11-6-2, 8-3-1 CCC) visits the University of New England next Tuesday at 7 PM.
