Men’s Ice Hockey Turns Back Assumption, 5-2

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team extended its winning streak to four straight games on Sunday night with a 5-2 victory over Assumption College at Buffone Arena.

Endicott received goals from Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.), Dominic Nitti (Cottage Grove, Minn.), Jacob Gammelgaard (Esbjerg, Denmark), Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.), and Ryan Dougherty (Sterling Heights, Mich.), while Mark Specia (Ringwood, N.J.) stopped 36 shots in his collegiate debut.

Assumption goaltender Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass.) compiled a season-high 43 saves in the loss (0-4-0).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • With the win, Endicott is 1-1-0 versus Assumption in the all-time series.
  • The Gulls have outscored opponents 16-8 during their four-game winning streak.
  • Gammelgaard's first career collegiate goal at 12:45 of the second period counted as the game-winner.
  • Jack Musil (Hull, England) won a team-high eight faceoffs, while Brendan Shane (Rochester, N.Y.) went 6-for-7 at the face-off dot to highlight Endicott's centermen.

FOR THE FOES

  • Stephen Picard (Enfield, Conn.) and Nick Fenuccio (Keene, N.H.) both scored for Assumption in the first (12:22) and third (4:55) periods, respectively. 
  • Mike Sorenti (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) won a game-high 11 faceoffs.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (4-2-2) hosts Curry College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup this Thursday at 7:00 PM. Assumption (2-7-1) travels to Worcester State University on Tuesday for an 8:30 PM contest.
