Men’s Ice Hockey Falls To Nichols, 4-1

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team lost to Nichols College by a 4-1 score in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Saturday night at Levy Rink.

Nichols raced out to an early 2-0 with tallies at 9:07 (power play) and 12:44 in the first period, and never looked back.

Carter Horwitz (Tustin, Calif.) broke up the Bison's shutout bid at 15:27 of the third to make it a 3-1 deficit when he buried a feed from Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.) for his first goal of the season.

Nichols went on to seal the victory with an empty net goal with 37-seconds remaining in the contest.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Kevin Aldridge (Birmingham, Mich.) made 26 saves in the loss (0-1-2).
  • Endicott has not played a home game yet this season.
  • The Gulls won their last meeting against Nichols, by a 5-3 score, on January 23, 2016.

FOR THE FOES

  • Chris Deming (Madison, Ala.), Scott Cuthrell (Waterford, Mich.), Sean Swansen (Salem, N.H.), and Ben Campbell (Duluth, Minn.) all scored in succession for the Bison.
  • Nichols is 2-0-0 at home against Endicott, and 2-1-0 in the all-time series, so far.
  • Colin Brennan (Chester, N.J.) recorded a season-high 38 saves in the win (3-0-0).
  • Brenna has stopped 30 or more shots in every start this year.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (0-1-2, 0-1-1 CCC) hosts Salve Regina University next Thursday at Raymond J. Bourque Arena in a rematch of last year's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship game at 7 p.m.

Since then, both teams have joined the CCC along with Nichols, Johnson & Wales, Becker, Curry, Western New England, the University of New England, Suffolk, and Wentworth.

Nichols (3-0-0, 2-0-0 CCC) travels to the University of New England on Thursday at 7 p.m.
