Men's Basketball Takes Care Of UNE In CCC Opener, 72-67

BEVERLY, Mass. ― The Endicott men's basketball team defeated the University of New England (UNE) on Saturday afternoon, 72-67, at MacDonald Gymnasium in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both teams at the MacDonald Gymnasium.

For the fourth consecutive game, Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) has highlighted the Gulls as their leading scorer. Against the Nor'Easters, Echevarria notched 19 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the field (2-4 3PT, 7-9 FT).

Meanwhile, Billy Arseneault (Lynnfield, Mass.) also added 14 points, while Cameron Ray (Lowell, Mass.) and Dillon Grant (Dennis, Mass.) chipped in with eight and six in their efforts, respectively.

Overall, the game featured six lead changes as both schools went back and forth before the Gulls went on a crucial 8-4 run within the final two minutes of regulation to secure their first victory over a conference opponent.  

BEYOND THE BOX  

  • Endicott leads the all-time series against the University of New England 27-12.
  • Echevarria is averaging a team-leading 20.5 PPG. 
  • Arsenault led the Gulls with six rebounds. 
  • Endicott saw 23 points contributed to the team off the bench. 
  • The Blue and Green have won six straight CCC opening matchups. 
  • The Gulls won their first contest at The Nest this season (1-0 home, 0-1 road, 2-0 neutral site). 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (3-1, 1-0 CCC) travels to Middlebury (2-2) on Sunday, November 28th at 1 PM. UNE (1-5, 0-1 CCC) hosts Bowdin (2-0) on Tuesday, November 23 at 7:30 PM.
