Men's Basketball Earns Two Major Awards, Three All-CCC Selections

CCC MEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. The Endicott men's basketball team is pleased to recognize three Gulls named to the 2016-17 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Basketball All-CCC teams, in addition to bringing home the Senior Scholar-Athlete and Coach of the Year honors, as was announced this afternoon by the conference office.

Senior guard Kamahl Walker (Worcester, Mass.) was the lone Gull appearing on the All-CCC First Team, while classmates Max Motroni (West Warwick, R.I.) and Daquan Sampson (Germantown, Md.) landed on the Second and Third Teams, respectively.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Kevin Bettencourt

This is Coach Bettencourt's first career Coach of the Year honor. Bettencourt is 62-22 overall (43-11 CCC) in his third season at the helm of the Gulls' program that is looking for a chance to three-peat as conference champions.

ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Kamahl Walker | Sr. | G | Worcester, Mass.

Walker is now a three-time All-CCC First Team honoree and is one of the most decorated student-athletes in program history. In his senior campaign, Walker etched his name into the record books in five categories, including becoming Endicott's all-time leading scorer on Jan. 31, 2017. Walker is also the program's leader in most field goals made, field goals attempted, free throws made and free throws attempted.

ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM/ SENIOR SCHOLAR-ATHLETE

Max Motroni | Sr. | G | West Warwick, R.I.

Motroni is now a three-time All-CCC Second Team selection. In his senior campaign, Motroni earned his second straight CoSIDa Academic All-District honor. On the court, is fifth in program history with career points and is second in both free throws made and free throws attempted.

ALL-CCC THIRD TEAM

Daquan Sampson | Sr. | F | Germantown, Md.

Sampson earned his second All-CCC nod as he was a All-CCC Second Team member last season. In his senior campaign, Sampson has four double-doubles this season and  scored his 1,000th career point against Curry on Jan. 25, 2017 to become the 15th student-athlete in program history to achieve the milestone. Sampson currently ranks second all-time in career rebounds, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, and games started.  He also is tied for first in most career games played.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Gulls earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament after posting a 20-5 overall record and 15-3 ledger in CCC play. Endicott will host No. 7 Salve Regina in the CCC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 21st at 8:00 p.m. inside MacDonald Gymnasium.
