Women’s Cross Country Wins “Battle Of The North Shore” Meet

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott women's cross country team defeated host Gordon College (18-40) and Salve Regina University (26-29) in the "Battle of the North Shore" meet on Saturday morning.

Today's victory for the Gulls broke a 1-1 tie in the "Battle of the North Shore" meet all-time series against Gordon. The "Battle of the North Shore" meet was started in 2017. Meanwhile, with the addition of Salve Regina into today's meet, the head-to-head matchup between Endicott and Gordon was scored separately from the overall standings in order to award the winning team the "Battle of the North Shore" lighthouse trophy.

As for Endicott individually, the Gulls placed all five of their scoring runners inside the top-10 to top Gordon and Salve Regina.

Holly Fossa (Essex, Mass.) guided Endicott with a second place finish on the 5-kilometer course in 20:23. Laura Pomeroy (Windham, N.H.) followed in third place with a personal record time of 20:25, while Julia Adrian (Noank, Conn.), Gabrielle Rabito (Woburn, Mass.), and Haley Marek (Westhampton, Mass.) rounded out the top-5 in seventh (21:19), eighth (21:33), and ninth (21:37), respectively.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Endicott's score of 18-40 against Gordon is the second-lowest score for the Gulls in their three-year history of the "Battle of the North Shore" meet.
  • Pomeroy also dropped 32-seconds off of her fastest time on Gordon's course during the "Battle of the North Shore" series today.

The Gulls will host the Endicott Invitational on Saturday, September 7 at Bradley Palmer State Park in Essex County, Mass. at 11:00 AM.
