Gulls’ Harriers Finish Fourth At Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott women's cross country team posted a fourth place finish out of 22 teams on Saturday afternoon at the Western New England University (WNEU) Invitational. 

The University of New England (UNE) ranked first overall on today's 5-kilometer course as the Nor'easters lineup swept the top-3 spots, and also claimed fifth and sixth overall, respectively, for a score of 17 points.

Roger Williams (126), Westfield State (150), Endicott (158), and SUNY Cobleskill (175) rounded out the top-5.

Individually for Endicott, Abigail Keim (Williston, Vt.) placed 11th overall with a time of 20:14 to pace the squad.

Kiera Malone (Woburn, Mass.) finished 16th out of 242 runners with a time of 20:26 to follow Keim, while Laura Pomeroy (Windham, N.H.) was 35th overall in 21:02.

Maeve Kelly (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and Kelly O'Neill (Cumberland, R.I.) rounded out Endicott's top-5 with times of 21:35 (52nd overall) and 21:43 (58th overall), respectively.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Keim was the first non-UNE runner to finish among the remaining CCC competitors in today's race.
  • Keim also ran her fastest 5k time this season by more than 25-seconds.
  • Much like Keim, Malone set a 5k new season best today surpassing her previous time of 21:12 set at the UNE Invitational earlier this fall.

Endicott takes a week off before returning to competition at the CCC championships on Saturday, October 29 at WNEU in Springfield, Mass.
