Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Weekend Tri-Match 

BOSTON, Mass. — The Endicott women's volleyball team defeated host Suffolk University (3-1) and UMass Boston (3-0) on Saturday evening at Smith Court.

ENDICOTT 3, SUFFOLK 1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22)

Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.), Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.), and Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) all compiled double-digit kills in the victory.

Gilbert (.346) and Schueler (.357) tied for the team-high in putaways with 12 each, while McAvoy terminated 10 attempts on 24 swings (.292).

Gilbert also notched 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season alongside four block assists, one service ace, and a 31-for-34 showing on serve-receive (.912).

Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Kelsey Sanborn (Londonderry, N.H.) split duties running the attack behind 20 and 16 assists, respectively. 

Defensively, Alexandra Tecun (Hawthorne, Calif.) registered a team-high 14 digs, while Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) chipped in with 11 digs.


ENDICOTT 3, UMASS BOSTON 0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-23)

Match two of the day featured more of the same from McAvoy, Gilbert, and Schueler as the trip notched eight, seven, and five kills, respectively.

Sophie Breitenbach (Newport, R.I.) also added five putaways in the victory.

Meanwhile, McGrath and Sanborn set up 15 and 10 kills apiece.

The Gulls made quick work of the Beacons as the second end of their tri-match only featured 13 ties (4-1, 3-2, 6-3) and five lead changes (0-1, 2-2, 3-3).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott's match against Suffolk featured 27 ties (3-1, 9-2, 12-3, 3-4) and nine lead changes (0-1, 3-2, 5-3, 1-4).
  • The Gulls are 6-0 against Suffolk and 7-6 versus UMass Boston all-time.
  • Endicott has also won three straight against the Beacons.
