Gifford, Kennedy and Quesnelle Selected for NEWVA Senior Classic

2019 NEWVA Senior Classic All-Star Event Release

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following stellar four year careers that garnered regional recognition from coaches, Endicott women's volleyball seniors Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.)Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.), and Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) were selected for the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic. The event will take place on Sunday, December 8, 2019, and will be hosted by Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass. The Senior Classic All-Star Event will consist of roughly 30 of the top seniors in the region.

Over their four year careers, the trio lead Endicott to three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championships, starting by going back-to-back to begin their careers before winning in dominant fashion this season to close out their tenure. During their time at The Nest, Endicott finished with an overall record of 85-41 (.674), while producing a record of 32-2 (.941) against conference opponents. In 2019, Endicott finished 23-8 (.742), the highest season win percentage since 2004 when the Gulls went 29-7 (.806). Included in the 23 wins in 2019 was a sweep of then No. 14 Christopher Newport, the highest ranked win in program history. This year's senior class also became the first class since 2009 to win three CCC titles in their four years. 

During her time in Blue and Green, Zoey Gifford earned AVCA All-Region honors three times in her career, and was named CCC Player of the Year as a junior and senior. She finished her career with 3,533 assists, good for third in Endicott history, as was her average of 8.31 assists/set. The Natick, Mass. native also finished with 1,043 digs, becoming the second setter in program history to finish with 3,000 assists and 1,000 digs, joining Endicott Hall of Fame member Meg Hall '08.

Also closing her career with two major conference awards was libero Mackenzie Kennedy, who was named Libero of the Year as a junior and a senior. The Andover, Mass. native was named AVCA All-Region as a senior, finishing her career with two All-Region honors. Kennedy has also been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to earn the distinction. Kennedy finished her career ranked seventh in program history with 1,484 digs.

Remi Quesnelle saved her best for last, finshing with AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region honors and All-CCC First Team honors for the first time in her career as a senior. An opposite for the past three seasons, Quesnelle moved to the outside as a senior and enjoyed a fantastic senior campaign, finishing with career-highs in kills (291), kills per set (2.85), digs (184), service aces (51), points (352.5), points per set (3.5), and matches/sets played (31-102).
