Mackenzie Kennedy Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

CoSIDA VOLLEYBALL ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS | ENDICOTT ACADEMIC ALL-REGION & ALL AMERICAN HISTORY

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott women's volleyball student-athlete Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball NCAA Division III First Team on Thursday. With her honor, she has become the first student-athlete in women's volleyball history to earn the distinction.

The District 1 team includes all colleges in Massachusetts and Maine. The CoSIDA Academic All-District® Teams recognize the top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom. 

Kennedy is an athletic training major and currently sports a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.84. The senior has earned Dean's List honors in all six semesters at Endicott, is a member of the Endicott Scholars program, and has been named to the Commonwealth Coast  Conference (CCC) All-Academic Team as both a sophomore and a junior.

As an athletic training major, Kennedy has completed internships with Drumhill Physical Therapy and Optimum Physical Therapy, and has completed clinical rotations with NCAA DI Boston College's ice hockey and basketball teams, and is completing her semester-long clinical with the BC football team.

On the court, Kennedy has started in all 29 matches in which she has played, racking up 568 digs to date, while helping to lead the team to a 23-7 record, garnering AVCA All-Region First Team honors. The Gulls recently won their third title in the last four years, while Kennedy was named CCC Libero of the Year and All-CCC First Team for the second straight season. Endicott will take on Bowdoin in the NCAA DIII Tournament First Round on Friday at Tufts.

CoSIDA Academic All-District Program Requirements

The CoSIDA Academic All-District™ program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic performances.

All First Team Academic All-District winners, which includes eight districts total, move to the national ballot and are then voted upon to the national team by members of CoSIDA's Academic All-America Committee.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
