Endicott Sweeps Wentworth To Remain Perfect in CCC Play on Senior Night

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team improved to 17-7 overall and 5-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with a 3-0 sweep of Wentworth, the reigning CCC champs, on Thursday night. The match served as Senior Night for the three seniors, Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.)Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) and Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.), a senior class that has now compiled a record of 79-40 overall to date which includes two CCC titles.

The Gulls were able to sweep the Leopards by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-15 remain atop the conference standings. Endicott held an edge in nearly every statistical category, including kills (44-33), assists (41-30), digs (58-47), blocks (7-4) and points (56-45).

Leading the way for the Gulls were outsides Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Quesnelle, who both finished with 11 kills, which tied for the match-high mark. Gifford posted a match-best 37 assists and 10 digs to go with three kills, while Kennedy finished with a match-high 19 digs in the sweep. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott improved to 23-0 all-time against Wentworth. The last three matches between the two programs have all been 3-0 sweeps, as have 19 of the 23 total wins.
  • Three Gulls were error-free offensively on the night. Middle Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.) finished with eight kills on 17 swings to hit a match-high .471, while Gilbert's 11 kills came on 30 attempts. Freshman Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) rounded out the trio after posting five kills on 10 error-free swings in two sets of play.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (17-7, 5-0 CCC) plays host to Curry on Saturday at 4:00 PM, while Wentworth (18-6, 4-2 CCC) travels to Babson on Saturday.
