Endicott Sweeps Curry to Lock Up Top Seed in CCC Tournament

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team swept Curry on Saturday 3-0 by set scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-22 to move to 18-10 overall and 7-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. With the 7-1 record in CCC play, and with the head to head victory over Wentworth to break the tie, the Endicott women's volleyball team has locked up the top seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament.

Endicott was led by Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) as the setter amassed 32 assists and 14 digs in the contest, good for her 15th double-double of the year. The junior guided the Endicott offense to hit .265 as a unit, registering 41 kills in the three set sweep, while her defense helped to keep the Colonels in check, limiting the visitors to just 26 kills on an .069 average. Freshman Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) led all players with 10 kills on 22 attempts and just two errors to hit .364 for the match, while senior Emily Diezemann (Peabody, Mass.) finished with a match-best .714 average by notching five kills on seven error-free attempts. The senior also tied for the match-high with three assist blocks in the middle.

Also notching three assist blocks on the day were Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.)Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.), and Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.). Quesnelle added seven kills and three aces to her day, while Winkler finished with five kills, and McAvoy finished with four. Nichole Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) finished with 12 digs, good for the second highest total in the match behind Gifford, while Alex Dippel (Fallston, Md.) finished with a complete box score, posting five digs, four kills, four assists, and three aces.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • With the top seed now secured, Endicott will have a bye in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Tuesday, and will play the winner of the No. 4 / No. 5 matchup, which will be released later this evening by the conference office. 

WHAT'S NEXT

As previously mentioned, Endicott, now 18-10 (7-1 CCC), awaits the release of the CCC Tournament bracket, which will be finalized this evening. The Gulls will not play until Thursday, November 1 in a CCC Semifinal match.
