Mancini & McAvoy Garner Weekly CCC Honors

CCC WEEKLY RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following a 2-0 week that saw the Gulls claim two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victories, Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) were named CCC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

For Mancini, the Player of the Week distinction is her fourth of the 2018 campaign. The senior averaged an astounding 5.57 kills/set while hitting .318, and added 2.57 digs/set, .57 blocks/set, and 6.4 points/set. Mancini started the week with 15 kills and eight digs in the team's 3-0 sweep of UNE. She then followed that up with a dominant 24 kill, 10 dig effort in the team's 3-1 win over Western New England, a match in which the senior hit .404... Her 24 kills in four sets is good for 4th all-time in Endicott four set single-match history. She now owns three of the top four spots. Mancini now leads the league in kills (337), kills/set (3.96), and points (380) in overall play, and is first in kills/set (4.32) and points/set (4.9) against CCC competition. 

 

For McAvoy, the Rookie of the Week honor is her second of the year, and represents the fourth Rookie of the Week honor for the Endicott program. The middle averaged 2.71 kills/set, 1.43 blocks/set and 3.6 points/set, all while hitting .500 during a 2-0 week for the Gulls. In the team's sweep of UNE, McAvoy was dominant, posting 12 kills with just one error on 18 attempts for a .611 average to go with five blocks. She then followed that up with seven kills and five blocks against WNE as she hit .357. For the season, McAvoy is now averaging 1.97 kills/set and 0.90 blocks/set and is hitting .338.

The women travel to Wentworth on Tuesday night to take on a Leopards team that is currently undefeated in CCC play. The Gulls then return home to take on Curry on Saturday in the final regular season match of the year.
