BRISTOL, R.I. - For the first time in 2018, the Endicott women's volleyball team suffered a loss in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, falling to Roger Williams 3-2 on the road on Tuesday night.

With the loss, Endicott falls to 13-8 overall on the season and 3-1 in CCC play. The 3-1 mark against conference foes ties Endicott with Roger Williams and Western New England for second place in the CCC standings. The Hawks were able to take the first set by a 25-18 score before the Gulls took a 2-1 lead, winning the second 25-22 and the third 25-14. The hosts would respond with a 25-22 win of their own in the fourth set to force a winner-take-all fifth to 15. Trailing 13-10 late in the fifth, the Gulls rallied to tie the match at 13-13 before Roger Williams pulled away to claim a 16-14 fifth set, and the 3-2 match win.

Being a matchup of two bitter conference rivals, both teams sold out on the defensive end as the Gulls and Hawks each recorded 100 digs or more in the match. The edge in the match would prove to be Roger Williams' block as the Hawks finished with a 14-6 edge in total blocks in the match.

Leading the Gulls in the setback were Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.), both of which finished with 14 kills on the night. Gilbert's came on 41 swings with just two errors as she hit .293 to go with six digs, while Mancini added 19 digs and two blocks in the effort. Freshman Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) finished the night hitting a match-high .450 by notching 11 kills with just two errors on 20 swings to go with two blocks and three aces.

With the Gulls posting 100 digs in the match, multiple players produced 15+ dig performances, highlighted by Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) and Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.), who finished with 22 and 21, respectively.
