Mancini Records 1,000th Career Kill As Endicott Sweeps Gordon, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior outside hitter Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) became the eighth student-athlete in women's volleyball program history to reach the 1,000 career kill plateau on Wednesday night in the Gulls' 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) of Gordon College.

Mancini, who needed seven kills coming into tonight's match to record the milestone, did so in emphatic fashion by registering the final kill in set one against Gordon. Overall on the night, Mancini finished with 12 kills (1,005 career) on 24 swings (.333) to go along with one assist, a service ace, five digs, and one block assist.

Meanwhile, Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) tied Mancini for the match-high in kills with 12 putaways on 21 swings (.571), three digs, and one block assist. Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) also compiled eight kills (.333), a match-high four service aces, six digs, and two block assists, while Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) ran the offense via 36 assists (75 attempts, .480).

Defensively, the Gulls were paced by Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) who notched a match-high 13 digs and Nichole Trudon's (Coventry, Conn.) eight digs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott improved to 19-15 in the all-time series against Gordon.
  • The Gulls have won four straight versus the Fighting Scots and 12 out of the last 16.
  • Tonight's match only featured 11 ties and four lead changes (eight ties, three lead changes in set three).
  • Six of Kennedy's digs led directly to kills (.462).
  • Tied 16-16 in set two, Endicott went on a 6-0 run spearheaded by six kills from Gilbert.
  • In set three, Quesnelle held serve for 10 straight points to break a 3-3 tie at the time and the Gulls never looked back after that.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (12-6, 3-0 CCC) hosts Plymouth State and Babson in a tri-match this Saturday at 11 AM and 3 PM, respectively. Gordon (9-9, 1-3 CCC) welcomes the University of New England to its campus on Tuesday, October 9 at 7 PM.
