Endicott Powers Past Nichols 3-0 in CCC Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball team hosted Nichols on Saturday in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC)  opener for the Gulls and cruised to a 3-0 sweep of the Bison.

The Gulls won by set scores of 25-7, 25-17, 25-9 to improve to 8-6 on the season and 1-0 in CCC play, while Nichols falls to 4-8 (0-2 CCC) The match served as part of Endicott's Homecoming Weekend festivities.

Endicott used a dominant all-around performance to record the sweep as the Gulls hit for a .352 average in the match while holding the Bison to a -.044 average.

The Gulls saw nine players record kills in the match, highlighted by a match-high six kills from Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) in just one set of play, and Meghan Frederick (Sunapee, N.H.) who recorded five kills on 12 error-free swings to hit .417.

Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) led all players with 14 assists and six aces in just two sets, while Karly Pedbereznak (Cheshire, Conn.) posted five assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The .352 average in the match for the Gulls ties a season-high, as Endicott hit .352 in the 3-0 sweep of Lawrence on the opening weekend.
  • Endicott is now 3-0 against Nichols all-time.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott will travel to CCC foe Salve Regina on Wednesday for a 7:00 PM start, while Nichols travels to Western New England on Tuesday for a 7:00 PM start as well.
