McAvoy Named CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following a week in which she helped lift Endicott to a 2-2 record, freshman Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) has been name Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as was announced by the conference office today.

McAvoy helped Endicott take down Brandeis 3-2 and Emerson 3-0, while also playing well in a 3-2 setback to Coast Guard and #5 JWU (R.I.). The freshman hit .421 for the week, including two matches of .500 or better with double-digit kill totals in both matches. In the three set sweep of Emerson, McAvoy logged 13 kills on a .524 average to go with four blocks, after posting 14 kills and a .545 average in a five set loss to Coast Guard.  In just one set of action against #5 JWU, the middle recorded two kills, a .333 average, and one block.

For the week, McAvoy averaged 2.67 kills/set, .75 digs/set, 1.00 blocks/set and 3.3 points/set, all while hitting for a .421 average.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott will travel to regional power Tufts on Tuesday night before returning home to host Wheaton (Mass.) on Thursday, and Nichols on Saturday for Homecoming Weekend.
